    Here we have provided you with a list of general support services during Covid-19 that we hope will help you get the right support you need. We will do our best to continue to update this list as provision shifts and develops.

    Adult Social Care + Autism Services

    • If you or someone you know needs support from the Adult Social Care team, call 0114 273 4908.
    • The Sheffield Carers Advice Line is open from Monday-Friday 10am-4pm. Call 0114 272 8362 to speak about any issue related to your caring role.
    • The National Autistic Society’s helpline is now open 10am-3pm Mon-Fri. Call 0808 800 4104. 
    • Public Health England have a provided a simple resource called ‘looking after your feelings and your body’ for adults with additional or learning support needs.
    • You can apply for an Autism Alert Card if you feel this might be useful for you or someone you know, to ensure you get the right support when out and about. The cards are free and anyone with a formal autism diagnosis or waiting diagnosis can apply. 
    • The Community Learning Disability Team are only carrying out essential face-to face appointments. Wherever possible they will carry out any appointments via telephone. They are also offering a telephone service that support the mental and physical needs of adults with learning disabilities. You can call 0114 226 2562 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
    • The Sheffield Adult Autism and Neurodevelopment service (SAANS) is currently offering appointments by telephone or video call. Contact 0114 271 6964 between 8.30am to 12pm or 2pm to 4.30pm.
    • Sheffield Voices (supported by Disability Sheffield) are hosting a coffee morning twice a week at 11am on Tuesday and Thursday for anyone with a learning disability or Autism. If you are interested in joining contact 0114 2536750 or email [email protected]
    • VAS are currently supporting three autism projects, ACCTing Out, The A Team, and Sheffield Autism Dialogue Support Group, for more information and contact details of each project, click here.

    Advice and Information

    • The Citizens Advice Bureau in Sheffield is fully operating through digital, phone and skype services, including those who use BSL. For details please refer to their website or call the Advice Line on 03444 113 111 (Mon-Fri 10am-4pm)
    • If you are requiring support, information or advice about benefits or Universal Credit please call the Universal Credit Help to Claim Line on 0800 144 8444 (Mon-Fri) 8am – 6pm
    • Council tax support is available to anyone who may be struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can use an online applications, email, [email protected] or call 0114 273 677.

    Armed Forces Community

    • The Royal British Legion are offering advice and guidance on what support is available locally to you. Call 0808 802 8080 or email [email protected]
    • SSAFA South Yorkshire provide support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces as well as their families and dependents. You can call Mon-Thurs 10am-12pm on 07483 214 925
    • Keeping Families in Mind supports families of serving and veteran military personnel. Call 0114 258 4489 or email [email protected] for a referral form or more information or advice about what mental health support is available for military families.

    Drugs and Alcohol

    Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse

    • Sheffield’s Domestic Abuse Helpline is provided by IDAS and is free to call from mobiles and landlines: 0808 808 2241. They have also produced a safety plan if you are currently living in or thinking of leaving an unsafe home environment.
    • 24 hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247 (run by Refuge)
    • Men’s Advice Line: 0808 801 0327
    • Respect helpline: 0808 802 4040 (for anyone worried that they may be harming someone else)
    • Galop: 0800 999 5428 (national helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people experiencing domestic abuse)
    • Forced Marriage Unit: 0207 008 0151
    • For information and advice, Sheffield DACT have produced an online resource of additional support and where to find help.
    • If you have been raped or sexually abused you can ring 999 who will refer you to South Yorkshire Sexual Assault Referral Centre or you can call them directly on 0330 223 0938.
    • The Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre is offering telephone support to people needing support from an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor. The office is not currently staffed however you are still able to leave messages by calling 0114 2412766 or emailing: [email protected]
    • Women’s Aid:  Free travel for survivors to reach refuge. 
      Train companies will now cover the cost of train tickets for anyone travelling to refuge accommodation while coronavirus lockdown measures are in force, in a joint initiative with Women’s Aid.

    Elderly and Vulnerable Older People

    • Age UK (Sheffield) – Currently offering telephone support and advice. Call 0114 250 2850 or email [email protected]
    • Buzz Sheffield are making entertainment packs for older people. Email [email protected] to request a pack.
    • Silver Line – 24/7 telephone service for older people. Call 0800 470 8090 to talk to a Silver line friend
    • SCCCC are offering an essential items shop (10 items) or a basic emergency shop. Call 0114 250 5290
    • St Columbas and Crosspool Community Hub – providing support, tasks and errands for anyone who is elderly or isolated in the Crosspool area. Call 0114 2670 006
    • Sheffield Mind have a listening ear service for those 50+ who are isolated, lonely, worried or just want to talk. You can call Monday-Friday 9-5 on 0114 258 4489 and they will arrange a call back within two days.
    • Voluntary Action Sheffield can make emergency referrals for anyone over 70 who is struggling. Call 0114 2057 120.

    Food, Shopping and Support

    • Darnall Forum are offering shopping support or daily chores outside the house. Call Shaista on 07544992980 or email [email protected]
    • Foodhall – Community Hub are offering food parcels and isolation food packs that can be collected or delivered. Deliveries operate between Mon-Fri 10am to 4pm. Collections are Wed/Thurs/Fri between 10am-2pm. Food donations are also welcome. Call 0114 303 6040.
    • Helpful Bamford are providing support to those in Bamford, Thornhill, Shatton, and Yorkshire Bridge. Email: [email protected]
    • Kelham Island and Neepsand Community Alliance are helping to pick up food, cleaning supplies and medical prescriptions. Call 0114 461 0037 or email [email protected]
    • Unity Gym Project is a point of call for local residents living in Broomhall and is offering hot food to the most vulnerable. Call 07946 145 743Somali interpretation is available. 

    Foodbanks

     Homelessness

    • Archer project is open but is only serving those without accommodation and access to benefits.

    • If you are homeless or at risk of homelessness please call 0114 273 6306
    • During evenings and weekends please phone Sheffield City Council’s out of hours housing solution service on 0800 7311 689
    • Please note, Devonshire Green Medical Centre drop-in is closed. They now operate triage by phone. 

    Gambling

    • Gamcare run the National Gambling helpline which is open 24/7. You can call 0808 80 20 133 or live chat with them if you or someone you know needs help or support.

    NHS Health and Wellbeing (Staff)

    • NHS England have a helpline for NHS staff to help support their mental health and wellbeing. The service is designed to support NHS staff with a wide range of issues that they might face, including practical and financial advice through to specialist bereavement and psychological support. NHS staff will be directed to appropriate trained experts depending on their needs. Call 0300 131 7000 (7am-11pm) or for the 24/7 text helpline text FRONTLINE to 85258

    Refugees and Asylum Seekers

    • Sheffield City of Sanctuary are continuing to offer refugee and immigration support through The Virtual Sanctuary. Visit their website or call 0114 221 1845 for help and advice. They are also running the Migrant Covid 19 Support Group. It has been developed to ensure that those seeking sanctuary are supported and connected during the current pandemic. As well as the group providing support, it is also designed to get you to the correct service you need. Including: advocacy, food bank referral and other sources of help.     • The Refugee Council have provided a comprehensive resource on changes to asylum and resettlement policy and practice in response to Covid-19.
    • This resource has been designed to help manage anxiety and is translated into a variety of languages.
    • Doctors of the World has translated the latest NHS guidance about Covid-19 into 49 languages.
    • Assist has updated information for clients. To contact email: [email protected]
    • Asylum Journey is a very detailed and comprehensive resource of all services available in Sheffield and their current provision during the pandemic.

    Sheffield City Council

    • Sheffield City Council have launched a community helpline for residents to call with any issues relating to coronavirus. This could be help with shopping, getting medicine, or just some help and company. This support is available Monday to Friday between 8:45 am and 4:45pm. Call 0114 273 4567.

    Social Isolation

    • Reengage have a telephone buddy and befriending service for those who are experiencing isolation or loneliness. Call 07442 096145 or email [email protected]
    • Sheffield Flourish are offering online support through telephone chats, online games and social groups as well as signposting and advice. Call 0114 273 7009 or email [email protected]
    • Sheffield Manor Parish (St Aiden’s, St Swithun’s, William Temple Churches), are keeping in touch with people in the local church communities through lay and clergy support. Call 0114 278 0707 or email [email protected]
    • ShipShape are providing support and assistance including an emergency foodbank. They are open between 9.30-3pm on weekdays. Call 0114 250 0222 or email [email protected] Urdu, Punjabi and Somali interpretation is available

     VAS Community Hub and Mutual Aid Map

    The VAS community hubs detail the support offered by local mutual aid groups and community hubs. These are locally organised groups that help get supplies for people when isolating as well as providing food access and issues and signposting to specific support.

    Community Hubs are run by constituted organisations, registered charities or faith based organisations that have a track record in supporting their community. They offer to

    • Support those who are most at risk
    • Providing information, advice, health and wellbeing over the phone
    • Food access
